4.4 Data integration

  • Palantir: ImmigrationOS for ICE, the IRS "mega API," growing HHS work, and NYT's reporting that it was chosen as vendor for cross-agency data (§D1 items 9–10) [V/V-s]. Palantir's stated position is that it is "not a data company": it says it doesn't collect, store or sell personal data and can't reuse client data (Palantir) [V-s]. That is accurate as a business model, but integration is the capability that matters.
  • Flock Safety (licence-plate readers, ALPR): a University of Washington report found immigration-enforcement access through local agencies' searches. Flock says it removed federal agencies from nationwide lookups and added filters (UW Center for Human Rights, Flock statement) [V-s]. Flock is a Founders Fund/a16z portfolio company [R].
  • Axon/Carbyne: see §D1 and murky item 8b. Clearview and the data-broker loophole: not re-researched [U].
